Welcome Message:
On behalf of the Organizing Committee and Kuwait University, welcome
to the Second Kuwait International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition
(KIPCE 2005) held Under the
Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah,
The Prime Minister of Kuwait, on December 10-12, 2005 at the Marina
Hotel.
The continuous increase in world demand for oil with OPEC countries
oil excess capacity fell to almost zero led to the current high
oil prices. In addition, the declining oil market share of OPEC
vs. non-OPEC reduced the capability of the former to stabilize oil
prices. OPEC countries which are capable of increasing their oil
production capacity need to invest heavily in their oil fields in
order to stabilize the oil prices. Furthermore, the proper management
of oil fields could results in billions of barrels that will be
added to oil reserves. There is ample need in the petroleum industry
to develop and apply new technology and management methods to increase
both production and reserves.
KIPCE 2005 with the theme of "Meeting Future
Demands Through Wise Decisions" will provide a forum
for the presentation and discussion of recent work on several topics
in petroleum engineering, in which participants will have a chance
to share experience and knowledge with experts in the fields. In
addition, I hope this conference will create a chance to promote
interaction between research institutions, universities, and oil
companies.
KIPCE 2005 is planned for three days with eight technical sessions.
The topics for these sessions include geological description and
modeling, formation evaluation, production management, drilling
and well completion, reservoir and data management, rock and fluid
properties, and enhanced oil recovery.
Once again, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like
to thank all the sponsors for KIPCE 2005 including Kuwait University,
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Kuwait oil Company, ExxonMobil, Shell,
KPIOS, KUFPEC, and KGOC. Also, I would like to extend my thanks
to both exhibition and conference participants. I'm looking forward
to welcoming you to KIPCE 2005 in Kuwait.
Yours Sincerely,
---------------------------------------------
Dr. Yousef Sayed Khalaf
Organizing Committee Chairman - KIPCE 2005
SCOPE:
